Haha, I have just discovered that this is free – after having my S3 for 3 months!! Definately use your home wi-fi when you can. Also, when you’re out & about check for any ‘other’ wi-fi. I leave my phone connected all the time and it’s surprising where you can pick up free signals – even outside supermarkets!
Just a thought on your home wi-fi, you have got it secured haven’t you cos if not others could be using yours for free.

No, when you’re on wifi you aren’t using your data.

Richard says:

If your phone is using the WiFi, then this will NOT come out of your mobile/cellular phone allowance.

There should be a setting on the phone that only allows Internet access when connected to WiFi. While this is set, your cellular allowance is protected.

One other tip: WiFi can use a significant amount of power. Disable WiFi (and Bluetooth) if you are not using it to get a longer battery life between charges.
